Chief Kevin Roberts


Chief Kevin Roberts began his law enforcement career with the Georgia Department of Corrections in 1994. After 4 years with the GDC, Chief Roberts joined the Clayton County Police Department in 1998.

Through hard work, dedication and a deep passion for law enforcement over the next 20 years, he solidified his career moving up through the ranks. Chief Roberts was promoted from patrolman to the rank of Sergeant assigned to uniform patrol in 2002, followed by a promotion to Lieutenant assigned to Uniform Patrol in 2005. As a Lieutenant, he led the Special Operations Unit. Chief Roberts’ upward progression was imminent and he ventured on to command a Sector as Captain and led the Uniform Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions consecutively as Major. Chief Roberts was promoted to Deputy Chief of Field Operations in 2017 and on January 16, 2018, he was appointed the Chief of the Clayton County Police Department.

During his career, Chief Roberts has completed over 2500 hours of law enforcement training, as well as, his BA in Business Administration and MPSA in Public Safety Administration, May 2018. Chief Roberts is also a graduate of the Department of Justice FBI Georgia Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, August 2019; FBI National Executive Institute, Session 43, February 2021; Atlanta Police Leadership Institute, Executive Regional Command Curriculum, March 2022 and 2021-2022 Leadership Clayton, October 2022. Chief Roberts has been a member of the Atlanta Metropol and N.O.B.L.E. (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives) since 2014, a member of the GACP (Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police) since 2015 and a member of the IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police) since 2018.
