My car or truck has been impounded! How do I obtain authorization for the Wrecker Service to release my vehicle to me?
If your vehicle was impounded by the Clayton County Police Department you must obtain a Vehicle Release Form from the Clayton County Police Department Records Unit before the vehicle can be released by the Wrecker Service. In order to obtain a Vehicle Release Form, you must come in person to the Clayton County Police Department’s Records Unit and present the following documents:
a. Valid Government Photo ID
b. Vehicle’s Current Tag Registration or Vehicle Title in the owner’s name
c. If you are not the owner, a notarized consent (power of attorney) must be obtained from the owner of the vehicle that names the person that the vehicle should be released to and must also include the vehicle’s year, make, model, vin#, in addition to the items referred to in letter a. and b. above.

How Do I obtain a copy of my Georgia Criminal History Information, a Permit or Business License?
The Records Unit accepts requests for Georgia Criminal History Reports for personal or employment reasons. Requests for Criminal History Information must be made in person. You must present a valid government issued photo ID, social security card and complete and sign a waiver form. There is a Twenty Dollar ($20.00) fee to obtain your personal Criminal History information which can be paid by Debit Card, Credit Card or Money Order made payable to the Clayton County Police Department. No Criminal History information on third parties will be released (i.e. you cannot obtain Criminal History information on anyone other than yourself).
The Permits Unit accepts requests for permits Monday through Friday 8:00 am until 3:30 pm.

How can I Obtain a Copy of an Accident or Incident Report?
Accident and Incident Reports can be obtained by visiting the Records Unit Customer Service Window located inside the Clayton County Police Department’s Headquarters Facility, located at 7911 N. McDonough Street, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. The Records Unit operating hours are Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 am until 4:45 pm and Thursday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, excluding holidays.
Incident Reports can be obtained in person at a cost of 10 cents per page Accidents Reports can be obtained in person for a $5 flat fee.

Customers should be prepared to provide staff with the case number issued for the Incident or Accident.
NOTE: Family Violence Reports cannot be obtained unless an arrest has been made and then only the victim or defendant can obtain the report.
Unless mitigating circumstance exists reports are typically available within 3-5 business days.
All fees are due at the time of your request and may be paid at the Records Customer Service Window using Debit Card, Credit Card, or money order or certified cashier’s check, made payable to the Clayton County Police Department.
Incident Reports ARE NOT AVAILABLE online at this time.
